One Offaly town hit by five burglaries in short span of time

An Offaly town has been hit by five burglaries in a short span of time

According to gardai, Birr was hit by five burglaries during the last couple of weeks.

On Wednesday June 21 and Thursday June 22 there were three burglaries at three different apartments.

The three apartments were extensively damaged but the burglars only made off with a small sum of cash from one of the apartments. The occupants of the premises were all absent at the time.

According to gardai, CCTV footage was harvested from the area and gardai say they are following a number of lines of inquiry.

Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity on those dates can contact gardai in Birr.

A fourth burglary happened on the weekend of June 24 and 25 on Glebe Street in the town when a Lyster Hedgecutter and a a Marayama Strimmer were taken from a building site.

On Tuesday, June 27, gardai say three males entered a house in Hillside at 11am. No one was in the premises at the time but a neighbour saw the men and rang gardaí.

The men left before gardai arrived and nothing was stolen. The Gardaí believe the transport they used was either a black Golf or a black Scirocco, with a possible Dublin registration.
