Remarkable seventh Leinster soccer title for outstanding Offaly school
THERE were great celebrations in Killina Secondary School last week when they captured the Leinster Schools Senior A title with a memorable 3-1 win over an excellent Alexandra College team.
Goals from Megan Daly and Ellen Dolan put Killina 2-0 up before a penalty from Alexandra College cut the deficit to 2-1 at half time.
The girls put in an excellent performance in the second half and were rewarded for their effort when Saorah Doyle found the net after excellent work from Becky Watkins and Ellen Dolan. The Killina defence of Kaitlyn Spain, Ciara Heffernan , Sarah and Rachel Dillon made it very hard to break down. Emma Hand and Ava Dolan were immense throughout. Demi Lee Colsh and Sarah Costello made a big difference when they came on. After the match Becky Watkins received the cup on behalf of the team.
This is the girls seventh Leinster title in six years and their first ever at this level. It is a truly remarkable achievement for such a wonderful group of role models.
