Repair works carried out on potholed road in Tullamore

LAST week Councillor Declan Harvey called for the road leading to the Kilbeggan Bridge in Tullamore to be repaired.
The road was filled with potholes and had been deteriorating rapidly with rain exacerbating the problem
According to Councillor Harvey that part of the road was not included in the town enhancement project as there are plans for it to be incorporated into the Urban Greenway Cycle Network.
''I am asking the council to do a good temporary job until the greenway project gets underway. he said.
A few days later, workers were on the bridge and a coat of tarmacadam was applied until work on the Tullamore Cycle Network gets underway.
In January 2022, the Tullamore Urban Greenway Project received €371,000 under Active Travel funding. In addition €116,000 was allocated for Phase 1 of the town's Cycle Network.
Offaly County Council propose to construct a shared walking and cycling greenway route (2.5 to
3m in width) along the towpath of the Grand Canal for a distance of 2.8km.
The route of the shared facility is from the eastern end of Convent View, Tullamore to Srah Bridge.
