Revenue collects over €50m from Offaly homeowners from this tax

Approximately €52 million was collected between 2013 and 2023 by the Revenue Commissioner
The Revenue Commissioners collected a total of €52.6m in Offaly from the controversial Local Property Tax (LPT) between 2013 and 2023, new figures reveal.
Minister for Finance Deputy Jack Chambers has shared data which shows collections for a given LPT year rather than a calendar year.
The data was shared in response to a Parliamentary Question from Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh.
The Sinn Féin TD asked the Minister about the amount of LPT that has been collected in each county by the Revenue Commissioners annually since its introduction.
The figures provided throughout the ten years since the Government's introduction of the hated LPT tax indicate that collections have remained steady year-on-year since they doubled after the first year.
According to the reply, €2.6 million in LPT was collected in Offaly in its first year followed by €5.1 million in 2014 before a slight decrease the following year to €4.8 million.
Figures for Offaly's LPT have remained between €4.6 million and €5.5 million between 2015 and 2023.
