Shane Lowry shoots up leaderboard at PGA Championship after stunning run of birdies in second round

Shane Lowry has shot up the leaderboard at the PGA Championship after a stunning run of birdies in his second round at Oakdale.

After a three over par round on Thursday, Shane dropped to four over for the tournament after seven holes of his second round and at that stage he was only one shot off the cut mark.

However over the next eight holes, the Offaly man went from being in danger of missing the weekend to being in contention.

A run of six birdies in eight holes shot him more than 50 places up the leaderboard.

Dropped shots on 17 and 18 dropped him back slightly but his round of three under par to leave him at level par for the tournament heading into the weekend.

With a handful of players still to finish their second rounds, he is five shots off the lead held by Scottie Schefler, Victor Hovland and Corrie Connors with 36 holes to go.
