SHOCKING: Motorist arrested after car with space saver tyre fitted caught driving at crazy speed in Offaly

A motorist was arrested over the weekend after car with space saver tyre fitted was caught driving at crazy speed in Offaly

Offaly Roads Policing Unit detected a car travelling at a shocking 174km per hr in a 100 zone.

When gardai stopped the vehicle, they discovered it was fitted with a space saver tyre which has a maximum speed of 80km per hour.

The driver was arrested and charged with dangerous driving. Gardai say a sample was also taken and that more charges may be prefered.

Gardai also detected another driver detected speeding at 145km per hour. In this case a Fixed Charge Notice was issued.
