Speaking to the Tribune Joe Gallagher explained the night is being held to acknowledge the amazing support his wife Josie and his entire family received when they experienced terrible tragedy with the unexpected death of their 22-year-old grandson Dylan Gallagher-O'Sullivan earlier this year.
“It's an appreciation night and we're doing it because the people around here were very good when we had that bereavement,” said Joe.
“This is on behalf of Dylan in a way. People were so kind. And all the bands are voluntary. John Molloy, the local man, is the man that's organising all these bands and we're very grateful to him.”
John Molloy is a talented performer himself and he has brought together a top line-up for an evening which will begin at 8pm and continue until late.
“It's just some way of saying thank you. We have wonderful neighbours and wonderful people living around here,” said Joe.
“I always knew that I always lived within a great community with wonderful neighbours but this really brought it home to me. I was shocked because people were bringing in food here and everything. We are blessed to be among them.”
Dylan died on March 20 last, unexpectedly at home. He is sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loving mother Joy, father Jimmy, brothers Billy, Tim, Alan and Matthew, grandparents Joe and Josie, aunts Barbara, Olive, Aoife and Josephine, uncles Fergal, Cormac and Joseph, girlfriend Meave, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends.
