Tenders sought to supply significant amount of equipment for school in Tullamore

The value of the tender for the school in Tullamore is estimated to be €176,000
The Board of Colaiste Choilm in Tullamore is calling for tenders for the supply, delivery, installation and maintenance of tools and equipment for the teaching of T4 (technology subjects).
The value of the tender is estimated to be €176,000. The equipment needed include lathes, boring and milling machine tools, woodworking equipment, machine tools for working wood, special purpose machine tools, power tools, miscellaneous hand tools and other hand tools.
The limit for the receipt of tenders or requests to participate is July 8, 2024. The validity of the tender is six months. It is an open public contract.
In 2023 Colaiste Choilm was granted planning permission for the construction of a 2,050 sq m extension.
It will consist of classrooms and specialist rooms and contain a special education needs unit. There will be 11 new classrooms in total. A sensory garden is also to be developed close to the new block of classrooms.
The existing car park will be expanded to include 22 further spaces and there will be a total of 150 bicycle spaces. Seven of the car parking spaces will have electric charging points.
Though the extension will be built at the Bachelor's Walk (New Road) end of the Colaiste Choilm complex, there were concerns from residents in Glenfircal estate, which is beside the school playing pitch, about the height of a boundary wall.
The residents were concerned about light blocking and visual dominance and in response, the school proposed wire mesh fencing for the upper part of an existing block wall.
