Tullamore's Jordan Conroy scores twice as Ireland qualify for Olympic Games in style

Ireland's Mens Rugby 7s side have qualified for the Olympic games after a comprehensive win over Great Britain in the final of the European Games in Krakow this evening with Tullamore's Jordan Conroy scoring two crucial second-half tries when the game was on the line.

After seeing off Portugal in the semi-final earlier today, Ireland defeated Great Britain by 26-12 in the final this evening.

Ireland led by 14-7 at the end of a tight first half with two tries from Billy Dardis and Terry Kennedy with Dardis adding both conversions.

The game remained tight in the opening exchanges of the second half before Jordan Conroy crossed the line to give Ireland a 14 point lead with Mark Roche adding the conversion.

Any doubt over the result was finally removed when Conroy crossed for his second try to put Ireland in an unassailable 26-7 lead.

Great Britain did cross for their second try late in the encounter but by that stage the game was up and Ireland claimed the title and booked their place on the plane to France next year joining the Women's side at the Olympic Games
