Warrant issued over child standing on rear seat of car in the Midlands

A bench warrant was issued for a man who was allegedly driving with a child standing up on the rear seat of his car. 

Augustin Munteanu, 40, of 2 Kilmalogue House, Portarlington was stopped at Killimy, Laois on August 9, 2022. 

Garda Stephen O’Hanlon said the car had no tax displayed and there was an unrestrained child in the vehicle. 

“There was a seven year old child standing up on the seat behind,” Garda O'Hanlon told the court.  

He said the defendant has 75 previous convictions. 

Judge Andrew Cody issued a bench warrant for sentencing.
