Lepas shows future of its cars with Aura concept

Sleek concept gets a long wheelbase and ‘Leopard-Eye’ headlights.
Lepas has given an indication of what its future models could look like with its sleek Aura concept.
Lepas, which falls under the Chery umbrella alongside brands such as Jaecoo and Omoda, currently has one car on sale in the UK – the L8 – which will soon be joined by the L6. Both, however, are SUVs.
It’s why the Aura concept shows such a marked change, as it moves away from that SUV bodystyle in favour of a sleeker, coupe-like design.

Lepas says that the rounded front end of the Aura concept ‘will inspire the future’ of the brand’s cars and this grille area is framed by ‘Leopard-Eye’ lights which will also be used on other models from the manufacturer.
A ‘digital canvas’ at the front of the car can also be personalised by the owners to show different graphics and animations, while at the back the taillight can also be configured differently.
Ivan Dulanovic, Chief Designer of Lepas, said: “In our philosophy, form and function are never two separate things. The Aura’s stance follows the running leopard; it is lean, forward and efficient. The many airwinds this car has guides the air through and over the car, helping it create downforce across against this wide and powerful body of the car. The air itself helped shape this car, so to speak.”

The Aura is also being shown in three new colours – Dawn Pearl, Bacalar Blue and Provence Twilight – and these will likely be deployed on future Lepas cars too.
While Lepas has yet to confirm whether the Aura concept will make it into production, it’s likely to inspire a road-ready car that’ll be available soon.
