Mini One returns as the most affordable car in the range.

Mini has brought back its ‘One’ model as an entry point to the brand’s range of cars.

Available first on the original ‘new’ Mini – made by BMW in the early 2000s – the One grade acted as the most affordable choice in the line-up. Now, it retakes that spot, with a starting price of £24,735.

Available on both three- and five-door cars, the One grade brings standard Melting Silver paintwork alongside a body-coloured roof, 16-inch alloy wheels and a cloth interior. Optional extras include a head-up display, wireless smartphone charging and active high-beam.

All versions of the One will get a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine which Mini says is ‘perfect for first time drivers’. Production is set to start this July with deliveries expected in the third quarter of the year.

Alongside the One arrives a new Paul Smith Edition, which is now available on petrol Cooper models having first been used on electric Mini models. Celebrating a partnership between Mini and the famous clothing designer, each Paul Smith Edition will be available in one of three paint options – Statement Grey, Inspired White or Midnight Black – while three- and five-door cars can be specified with a Nottingham Green roof.

Paul Smith Edition cars will also be available as a convertible, which gets a Union Jack-print soft top. Further design touches include Nottingham Green mirror caps while inside there’s a Paul Smith-striped knitted dashboard, door panels and seats.

A handwritten Paul Smith motto – ‘everyday is a new beginning’ – is applied to the door sills of each car and there’s a hand-drawn rabbit graphic on the front floormat too.

Prices for the new Mini Paul Smith Edition start from £31,285 for the standard C and £32,335 for the more powerful S model.
