Volkswagen’s ID. Polo hits the road priced from £23,945

Compact electric hatchback will be available with two battery options.
Volkswagen has launched its new ID. Polo in the UK, bringing its electric hatchback to market with a starting price of £23,945.
Available to order this Thursday (July 30), the new ID. Polo is the latest vehicle to join Volkswagen’s electric car line-up, bringing with it two battery options and a range of up to 281 miles.

Initially, the ID. Polo will be launched in high-specification Life and Style Launch Edition with a starting price of £25,555, before ‘standard’ models go on sale in September with a lower entry price.
To begin with, the Life Launch Edition will use a 52kWh battery and a 208bhp motor, while the Life Launch Edition uses a smaller 37kWh battery and a less powerful 133bhp electric motor. These cars will offer respective charge speeds of 105 and 90kW, meaning a 10 to 80 per cent charge can be completed in around 24 minutes.

All cars come with a high level of standard equipment, with the Life Launch Edition benefitting from two-zone climate control, heated front seats and a heated multi-function steering wheel. The Style Launch Edition adds a panoramic glass roof and an area view parking camera.
The standard ID. Polo will also get plenty of equipment when it goes on sale in September, with features such as a 12.9-inch infotainment display, wireless smartphone charging and a rear-view parking camera included on all cars.
