HGV driver, 18, charged over fatal crash

A woman has been charged in connection with a fatal road crash last year.

The crash involving an HGV, a Ford Transit flatbed and a Mini Cooper occurred at the Shawhead flyover on the A725, at its junction with the A8 eastbound slip road, in North Lanarkshire at around 11.15am on July 18.

The 50-year-old driver of the flatbed, Viorel Ciucu, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 18-year-old woman who was driving the HGV has now been charged in connection with the incident and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
