The 2 Johnnies may be hanging up their headphones at RTÉ's 2FM at the end of the month but they have assured fans they have big plans on the horizon.

The Tipp duo have said this year is their "busiest yet" with a new music album on the way and a string of live shows lined up for the summer.

Their shock departure from their widely acclaimed 2FM show came as a disappointment to fans when the news broke on Tuesday, but rest assured the won't be packing in the podcast any time soon.

Johnny B and Johnny Smacks are set to release their debut album Small Town Heroes next Friday and will attend album signings in record stores all over the country.

On June 8 they will host their own festival in Dublin at St Anne's park before jetting off on tour across America and Australia.

Speaking about leaving the popular 2FM show, Johnny B said,

"We've loved our time on the show. The team are legends, our sister Aifric O'Connell, the great Aindriú de Paor, producers Caroline and Anita. Our listeners have been the funniest, maddest, soundest crowd alive. The stories they've come on air to tell have been outrageous.

Johnny Smacks said,

"For now, we're looking forward to our world tour and the release of our debut album and we promise we will keep 'shutterin' away on the podcast every Monday. Who knows we may be back on the radio someday but for now as we say on the show 'We're out the gap'."
