Alert: Carlow hit by weekend crime spree as string of burglaries shake community

Carlow Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, information, CCTV, dashcam footage, doorbell cam to a number of burglaries throughout the county which occurred over the weekend.

The first incident occurred on Saturday 29th September at 11.30am at a home in Craanlusky, Ballinabrannagh, Co. Carlow. The home owner returned home to find their house was ransacked and an unknown male was escaping through the sitting room window. The culprit wss wearing white runners and blue jeans. Any person who might have seen anything of a suspicious nature in the Craanlusky area at approximately 11.30am on Sat 29th Sept, or who may have CCTV/dashcam footage, please contact Muinebheag Gardaí on 059 9774120

The second burglary occurred between 8pm and 8.30pm on Saturday 29th September in Upper Kilree, Bagenalstown. A home owner returned to their home to find the house ransacked. The perpetrator gained entry to the premises via a rear door which had been forced open with the lock damaged. A sum of cash was stolen from within the victims home. Another burglary took place between the hours of 8.10pm and 11.40pm on Saturday 29th September at Maple Drive, Royal Oak Rd, Bagenalstown. The homeowner returned home to find their house ransacked. Entry was made by forcing rear window of the property open. Any witnesses to suspicious activity, CCTV/dashcam footage/doorbell cam, please contact Muinebheag Gardaí on 059 9774120.

Another homeowner returned to their house in Seven Springs Estate, Tullow Rd, Carlow Town to find it ransacked. The alarm had been ripped off the wall and a sum of cash was taken. The incident occurred between 9.30pm and 9.50pm on Saturday 29th September. Gardaí in Carlow are appealing for any witnesses to this incident by way of any suspicious activity of vehicles or persons in the Tullow Rd area of Carlow between above times or anyone who may have CCTV/dashcam footage/doorbell cam, to contact Carlow Detective Unit on 059 9136620.

The final incident took place sometime between the 22nd September and 29th September. A house was broken into at Kilree Lane, Bagenalstown. The perpetrator(s) attempted to gain entry through the front door but after an unsuccessful attempt, they gained entry by forcing  a rear window open. Any witnesses to suspicious activity, CCTV/dashcam footage/doorbell cam, please contact Muinebheag Gardaí on 059 9774120.

Local Gardaí appeal for people to be vigilant coming into the darker evenings. They advise residents to put on their alarm, even if only leaving house for a few minutes. They also advise people to report any suspicious activity to your local Gardaí, look out for elderly neighbours and utilise Community Text Alert and Community Alert Schemes.
