Carlow-Kilkenny TD Jennifer Murnane O'Connor has welcomed an allocation of €3,000,000 to Active Travel projects in Carlow and €3,000,000 to projects in Kilkenny from the National Transport Authority (NTA).
She confirmed that a wide variety of projects across both counties have received funding, including numerous Safe Routes to School and footpath upgrade schemes.

Welcoming this funding, Deputy Murnane O'Connor said: "I am thrilled to see such a substantial investment in active travel both Carlow and Kilkenny for 2025. This funding will make our communities safer and more accessible for walkers and cyclists.
"I am confident that these projects will have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of the people of both counties.
"We need to make active travel a practical and viable option for people, and this funding is a significant step towards that goal and shows a strong commitment to promoting sustainable and active travel options across both counties.''
