'I know how hard it is': Carlow TD releases video on the fuel and cost of living crisis

A Carlow TD has released a video on social media stating that she understands the pressures that the fuel and cost of living crises are having on people. 

Jennifer Murnane O'Connor posted the reel on Facebook this afternoon.

"I understand the impact the cost of living and fuel crisis is having on people and the genuine concerns felt by ordinary, decent people," she wrote in the caption of the post.

The Carlow-Kilkenny Deputy continued to say that she understands that "everyone has the right to protest peacefully."

She went on to outline the work that she has been doing in an attempt to help and support those affected. 

"I know how hard it is for people at the moment with the cost of living and the price of fuel, and I am listening. I have had several meetings with the hauliers, the farmers, the agricultural contractors, bus companies," Deputy Murnane O'Connor said.

The TD is Minister of State with responsibility for Public Health and Wellbeing, and says she has been working with those affected in that area too. 

A number of people have contacted her to say that they have been missing appointments as a result of protests taking place.

"I have had several calls from people that couldn't get to their hospital appointment, people that needed chemo," she said. 

Deputy Murnane O'Connor said this was a "main concern" for her, and she has been working on that. 

Her "biggest concern" is that ambulances and emergency services cannot get access to fuel, after it was revealed that over 600 stations were out of petrol and diesel yesterday.
