Only 3% of the eligible Irish population give blood, providing for a population of over 4 million
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service are holding a blood donation clinic today, December 16, in Ennistymon.
Taking place in the Falls Hotel, the people of Clare are being encouraged to participate as only 3% of the eligible Irish population give blood, providing for a population of over 4 million.
Along with this, 3,000 blood donors are needed each week in Ireland as over 1,000 people receive transfusions every week nationwide.
Commenting on the clinic, Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe said, "The demand for blood does not stop for the festive period."

The service will run from 4:50pm until 8:10pm on Tuesday, December 16.
New and returning donors are both welcome.
