Tributes have been paid to a true Derry Gael Paul 'Bambo' Conway.

The Ballinderry Shamrocks stalwart sadly died over the weekend.

Leading the tributes, his former club said: "It is with deep sadness that we learn of the passing of our long-serving club member Paul “Bambo” Conway.

"Paul proudly wore the Ballinderry jersey for many years, lining out as a sharp and skilful corner-forward. He was a committed team player who gave his all every time he lined out for the club.

"In the years since, Paul coached many teams inside and outside of the club. He remained a dedicated supporter of the Shamrocks and was always generous in his backing. His love for Ballinderry never faded, and his presence will be sorely missed around the club and the community.

"We offer our heartfelt condolences to the entire family. Beloved husband of Marian and devoted father of Sean. Son of the Late Paddy and B-Ann R.I.P. and much-loved brother of Siobhan, Katrina, Ann and Patrick.

"Rest in peace, Bambo."
