Man faces trial for attacking woman in Letterkenny apartment

A book of evidence was served on the man when he appeared at Letterkenny District Court

A man has been sent forward for trial at the Circuit Court for allegedly robbing and assaulting a woman at an apartment complex in Letterkenny.

Joseph Gallagher appeared at Letterkenny District Court where he faced a number of charges arising out of a number of alleged incidents at Sunnyside Apartments on Port Road.

The court was told that the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented for the accused to stand trial at the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court.

Gallagher, aged 34 and with an address at Ard na Wark, Barnesmore, did not speak during the brief hearing.

He is charged with a total of five offences.

They include damaging property, using violence against a named woman, assault causing harm as well as two charges of robbery.

The alibi warning was given in the case by Judge Eiteain Cunningham.

The accused man's solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, made an application to have one Junior Counsel appointed to his client.

Mr Gallagher added that all charged were linked.

The accused was released on his own bail and will appear again at Letterkenny Circuit Court which begins on January 24th.
