The team behind the Mary From Dungloe International Arts Festival is looking for floats for one of their main events taking place on Sunday, August 6

As we all know this is a community-based festival which has been held annually since 1967.

It's family-friendly with a wide variety of musical, cultural, child, sporting, artistic and novelty events.

Irish diaspora communities from around the world, as well as Irish counties and towns, participate by nominating a young woman to represent their area.

The winner, crowned 'Mary From Dungloe' holds the title for a year and acts as an ambassador for the festival, Dungloe and Donegal.

The organising committee has issued an appeal to the Dungloe and wider Rosses/West Donegal public to enter a float in their grand parade

It is always a day of laughter, excitement, and wonder as the locals celebrate the best of Irish culture and tradition.

Their parade features colorful floats, lively music, and a host of talented performers, all designed to entertain and delight the whole family. Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor from afar, you won’t want to miss this unforgettable event.

There will be prizes for the following categories: 1st €500 Best Overall Float: 2nd  €250 Best Gaeltacht Float: 3rd €200 Best Novelty float: 4th €200 Best Community Float: 5th €100 Best Band on Parade

"It would be lovely to see people coming together to make up a float for the fun and it would be a great way of advertising what is going on in our community. If you know of any groups or would like to participate, please contact Lorna on the Mary from Dungloe International Festival Facebook page," a spokesperson said.
