Father Shane Hegarty and son Odhran will take the unique step tomorrow (Thursday) of starting at the same school on the same day - surely a first!
Shane will take up his position as a full-time teacher at St Mary's National School in Stranorlar while his four-year-old son Odhran will join the infant ranks. Both have been looking forward to the big day for much the same reasons - a new career for Shane and an exciting new world for Odhran.
Mum Sian says both are very excited about this unique double.
"They are really looking forward to their first day at school. Shane did his placement at St Mary's while studying for his Masters and is really excited about taking up a full-time position while Odhran is ready to go since earlier this week."
