A prizewinning artwork by five-year-old Donegal student Charles (Dominic) Gallagher, from St Mary’s National School, Lifford, has been chosen to illustrate the 2024 Texaco Children’s Art Competition Calendar just published.

One of 13 artworks selected to illustrate the publication, his piece, entitled ‘Moo Moo Rua’, will appear during the month of May and will be seen in thousands of homes throughout Ireland during the coming year.

Winning second prize in the six years and younger category of this year’s 69th competition, Charles (Dominic)’s artwork was described by Final Adjudicator, Professor Gary Granville as ‘art that combines the inanimate with the living, through a warm and successful juxtaposition of a tractor with a cow’.

Calendars are currently available through a select number of Texaco service stations and through Texoil, Valero’s own home heating oil division.
