A burglary occurred in the area of Castle Quarter, Inch Island.
A property in that area was entered through a bedroom window that had been left ajar. Entry to the rest of the house was not possible as the hallway was full of furniture as renovation work is underway there at present.
As entry to the rest of the building was not possible due to the blocked hallway, nothing was stolen and nothing was damaged. It was only when the furniture was moved recently that the burglary was discovered as items in the bedroom had been moved.
The incident occurred between Thursday, March 7 and Thursday, March 21.
“We appeal to residents in that area to make contact with Gardaí in Buncrana on 074-9320540 if they observed any suspicious activity in that area between those dates or if they have any relevant information,” a Garda spokesperson said.
“Sometimes, incidents such as these serve as a good reminder to us all to keep our home secure and to take all necessary steps to prevent crime occurring.
“Do not keep large amounts of cash at home. Ensure that all doors and windows are secure at all times and always report suspicious activity in your area to gardaí.”
