A man is due to stand trial over a serious assault in Bundoran.

Igor Gapcenko appeared before Ballyshannon District Court in connection with the alleged incident.

Gapcenko, a 52-year-old with an address at Benbulben View, Bundoran, is charged with assault causing harm to a woman at the same location on December 9, 2023.

Inspector Angela Cummins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has directed that the matter be dealt with by prosecution on indictment.

Gapcenko was represented by barrister Ms Kathleen Henry.

The charge is contrary to section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against The Person Act, 1997.

Judge Brendan O'Reilly adjourned the case until July 5, 2024 to allow for a book of evidence to be prepared.
