The Wizard of Oz announces new Letterkenny dates after Storm Éowyn cancellations

The rescheduled dates are Tuesday, February 4, until Thursday 6, starting at 7.30pm

They’re back! While Storm Éowyn was battering its way through the county on Friday, one of its casualties was An Grianan Theatre.

The storm caused damage to fire vents in the roof, meaning the last three of nine stagings of The Wizard of Oz - due to be staged by Letterkenny Pantomime Society - had to be cancelled at the last minute due to safety concerns.

Donna Ponsonby, who co-ordinated the Children’s Scene commented: “Team Oz were the second for the kids scene and only got to do one show. There were lots of little tears when the shows were cancelled! We were heartbroken for them to be missing out on what is always a magical experience for them. Breaking the good news to them all yesterday was just incredible. Next week's shows will be even more special now. The excitement is off the chart.”

Pantomime chairperson Tina Garry added: “We were crushed to have to prematurely to end the run! We are over the moon to get the opportunity to reschedule and can’t believe our luck that there is full availability of cast and crew. We just can’t wait to get back at it!“

The rescheduled dates are Tuesday, February 4, until Thursday 6, starting at 7.30pm. Letterkenny Pantomime Society are delighted for host clubs Bonagee United, on Thursday and Letterkenny Rovers on Wednesayda that they are not missing out on their host nights to raise funds.

There was jubilation among the cast when they heard the good news, that they were able to return to finish their run after months of work. Daithí Doherty, a member of the cast and committee admitted: “The weekend was a rollercoaster of emotions but we are relieved everyone is safe, that An Grianan is fixed and now, the show must go on!"

LPS would like to thank Patricia, Niall, Richie and the whole team at An Grianan for the sterling work in getting us back up there! Tickets can be purchased at An Grianan box office 074 9120777.
