Man fighting for his life after stabbing in Ballyshannon

A man is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of Sligo University Hospital following the incident while another man was arrested and is being questioned by gardai

A man is fighting for his life after a stabbing incident in Ballyshannon in the early hours of Friday.

The man, who is in his 50s, is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of Sligo University Hospital, where his condition is said to be “critical”.

Another man, also in his 50s, was arrested. He is being detained at a Garda Station in the North Western Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Detectives from Ballyshannon Garda Station are quizzing the man about the attack.

Gardai received a report of a serious assault at a residence in Ballyshannon at around 1.30pm.

A Garda spokesperson told Donegal Live that the injured man received “life-threatening injuries” and “he remains in critical condition”.

The spokesperson added: “Investigations are ongoing”.
