A man from Letterkenny who is due to be sentenced in Derry Crown Court in March for a charge of attempted sexual communication with a child has been remanded in custody after he lost his bail address.

Patrick Kelly (36) of Drumcavany, Churchill, pleaded guilty in October to a charge of attempted sexual communication with a child on dates between February 21 and February 25, 2024.

At a sitting of Derry Magistrate's Court a defence barrister, Sinead Rogan, said her client had lost his bail address and accepted this was a breach. A police officer confirmed that this was so and said Kelly had handed himself into the PSNI in Strabane.

A remand in custody was requested as there was no address available and Kelly was remanded in custody to appear for sentencing at the Crown Court on March 5.
