The mother of a man savagely beaten up at his home in Lifford has said her son is “beginning to show some amazing positive signs.”

Twenty-six-year-old Charles Dooher was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast having been set upon by a group of men in January and was “clinging to life,” his family said last month.

However, his grateful mother Annmarie said people’s “prayers are working” and aims to give an update on his condition on Friday.

“Thank you all for every single prayer I am so grateful and blessed to be able to share this with you today,” Annmarie posted on Facebook on Wednesday night. “Please continue to pray for Cha as the coming days and weeks are vital for his recovery.

“Although it is a time to give thanks and praise, I ask that you continue to pray for a miracle healing for my beautiful warrior son Charles Dooher.

“Your prayers are working! Charles is beginning to show some amazing positive signs, we are going to share Cha’s progress on Friday with everyone when he gets his tests, exams and treatment completed, and we know more about what the future will look like for Cha and us as a family. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts, we are beyond grateful - please continue to pray for my son Charles Dooher.”
