'A character and a gentleman' - Community mourns the sudden death of popular Donegal man

Seamus Goe McShane's funeral mass will take place at 12pm on Thursday at St Columba's Church in Carrick

Tributes have poured in following the recent death of Seamus Goe McShane of Ballymore, Teelin, County Donegal. 

Seamus passed away suddenly on Saturday, leaving behind his wife Noreen, children Barry, Amanda and Isla and his eight grandchildren. 

His death has come as a shock to many in the local community, with people taking to share their fondest memories of Seamus online as well to express their deepest sympathies with his family. 

Of the many messages left beneath Seamus' RIP.ie notice, it was clear that he made a big impact on the lives of many people. He has consistently been referred to as an "absolute gentleman" throughout the tributes. 

One person kindly shared: "True friend and gentleman always there for everybody, nothing was ever too much. Always looked forward to meeting and chatting with Seamus. We have really fond memories with him."

Another wrote: "He was a lovely man and a very good neighbour down through the years."

Seamus will be reposing at McCabe's Funeral Home in Ardara from 2pm to 7pm on Tuesday, with removal to his late residence travelling via Glengesh, down Braide and onto Ballymore, Teelin. The house is to remain strictly private. 

His funeral mass will take place at 12pm on Thursday, 13 March at St Columba's Church in Carrick. Burial will follow afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
