Tips for Donegal motorists driving in snow and ice issued by gardaí
Gardaí in Donegal have issued advice to motorists on driving in icy conditions with cold weather set to continue over the coming days.
Met Éireann has issued weather warnings for snow and ice for the county up until Monday night.
Drivers are being asked to remember to clear windows and mirrors before setting out.
The advice includes slowing down, to give time and space to react to a loss of traction should you skid on ice.

Motorists are also being warned to watch out for black ice.
“If the road looks polished or glossy it could be black ice,” a Garda spokesperson said.
Gardaí have also stressed the importance of the use of dipped headlights at all times of poor visibility to ensure you are seen by other motorists.
“Watch out for vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists and allow extra space,” the spokesperson added.
