A bench warrant was issued for man who failed to attend court after being remanded on foot of the execution of a previous bench warrant
A man who was arrested on foot of a bench warrant and remanded to appear at An Clochan Liath / Dungloe District Court has again failed to attend.
A new bench warrant was issued in respect of Francis Kelly, 38, of 6 Bundoran Westend Accommodation, West End, Bundoran was due before the court on Tuesday, January 13. He is facing a charge of theft of property from Aldi, Carnmore Road, Dungloe, on December 29, 2023. The goods stolen are two mini white wines at €1.99 each, a Pinot Grigio can at €2.29 and a Rose USA at €3.49. The total value of the items is €9.76. The offence is contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001.
Having previously appeared in relation to the matter, Kelly failed to attend court in Dungloe on December 9, 2025. A warrant for his arrest was issued.
The bench warrant was executed, and Kelly was brought before Ballyshannon District Court on December 19, 2025. He was ordered to appear before An Clochan Liath / Dungloe District Court on January 13, 2026. He failed to do so.
Inspector Seamus McGonigle said: “I have no option but to apply for a bench warrant.”
Judge Emile Daly agreed to grant the warrant for the defendant's arrest.
