Organised by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine in association with CAP Network Ireland, the competition aimed to celebrate the role of women across Ireland’s agri-food sector and highlight their contribution to farming, fisheries, sustainability, and rural communities. The competition invited participants to capture photographs showcasing the diverse roles women play in agriculture and rural life across Ireland.

The initiative forms part of Ireland’s activities marking the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026, a global initiative led by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations to recognise and promote the role of women in agrifood systems.

"I live on a dairy and beef farm," Gillian said in her submission. "I’m a full-time farmer alongside my husband. My son and daughter are both studying agriculture and are a great help to us on the farm also. I love my farming, fitness and the general outdoor lifestyle. I'm passionate about promoting and encouraging Women in Agriculture wherever I go."
