A Letterkenny man has appeared in court charged with having €980 worth of cocaine in his possession.

Lee Kennedy appeared at Letterkenny District Court. He is charged with possession of drugs contrary to Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The 36-year-old was stopped by Gardai at Kilmacrennan Road in Letterkenny on St Stephen's Day in 2024 and searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Kennedy, with an address at Gortnavern, Coolboy, is alleged to have €850 worth of cocaine in his possession.

Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions that the case could be disposed of summarily.
Judge Emile Daly accepted jurisdiction in the case. Solicitor for the accused, Mr Rory O'Brien, asked for the case to be put back to the June sittings, saying he had some disclosure but not a complete disclosure.
