More than 70 people in Knockbridge have decided to kickstart 2022 by taking part in a six week Operation Transformation programme being organised by St Bride's Camogie club.
Dietitian Niamh Kelly, one of the organisers of the programme, told the Dundalk Democrat that all participants began Operation Transformation by attending an online nutrition seminar and have the option of getting weighed in weekly.
“Each week”, said Niamh, “there are three outdoor fitness classes run by local fitness instructors, where there is a great atmosphere as they enjoy the craic, chat and sweat it out! The newly installed walking track is lit up every night for people to come and walk”
Niamh added that there is a real mix of people involved. “There's some of the girls who play camogie, so there's some fit girls” she said but added that there a lot of older women and “then there's a lot of mothers that might never have done exercise since they had their kids.”
“The atmosphere is brilliant at it”, she adds. “That's what I'm happiest with. There's great chat afterwards and everyone hangs around, it's worked out well.”
