Illies Golden Gloves’ Cahir Gormley is through to the light-middleweight semi-finals at the National Intermediate Championships.

Gormley recorded two wins over the weekend to reach the last four of the 71kgs division.

Gormley has been on top form with triumphs over Daniel Magliozzi and Lee Hanna.

An Ulster Elite champion at 67kgs earlier this year, Gormley defeated Magliozzi, of the Golden Cobra club, on a unanimous decision on Friday night at the National Stadium.

The following day, Gormley stopped Townlands’ Hanna in the opening round. 

The semi-finals will take place this coming weekend.

In January, Gormley won his first Ulster Elite title when beating Gianni Richmond at the Girdwood Community Hub in Belfast.
