Motorcyclist killed in collision in Co Sligo

A motorcyclist has died after a collision with a car in Co Sligo.

The man in his 30s was killed in the crash on the N16 at Glencar at around 8.30pm on Thursday evening.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car did not require hospital treatment.

The body of the motorcyclist was taken to the mortuary at Sligo University Hospital where a post-mortem examination was to be scheduled.

The N16 at Glencar remained closed to traffic on Friday morning pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardai have appealed for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

They have also urged any road users who may have camera footage from the N16 at Glencar between 8pm and 8.40pm to make it available to gardai.
