Naas Community Gardaí were out on mountain bike patrol in Kildare on Thursday (January 15 2026) when they encountered a person texting and driving.
When the Garda cycled back and stopped beside the car, the driver put the phone down, opened the window and stated that she did not have her phone in her hand – despite being caught 'red-handed'.
A €120 FCPN and three penalty points were issued.
An Garda Síochána Kildare would like to remind all motorists that “no call or message is worth a life.”
