Tributes paid to Kildare lady Phena Birmingham - an amazing woman who always put others first

Tributes flooded in last week after the death of Kilcullen community stalwart, Phena Birmingham.

Kildare South TD and Minister for Agriculture described her as "an amazing woman who always put others first".
"With a positive attitude and a gentle smile, Phena’s drive to help others always shone through. From community work to supporting individuals, Kilcullen and Suncroft were so much the better for Phena’s presence," he wrote on Facebook.
"She lived a great life, surrounded by her loving family. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her support and advice down through the years. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam."
Kilcullen Drama Group said; "Phena was a loyal supporter of our group for many years and was a regular supportive face in our audience."

Delphina (Phena) Bermingham, (Nee O' Connell) of Mooretown passed away on March 2 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband Tom and by her daughter Catherine Ryan, she will be sadly missed by her children Sheila, Brendan, John, Noeleen, Brian, Mary and Thomas, sons-in-law Michael, Finbarr, Ger and Simon and by her daughter-in-law Camilla, Brother Paddy, sisters-in-law Ann and Gemma, and her adored grandchildren Siobhan, Paul, Aisling Marie, Stephen, Ciaran, Ziyan, Lucas, David, Deirdre, Kevin, Oisin, Hannah, Emma and Aaron, her seven great grandchildren, her extended family and her wide circle of friends.

Famous for her Miscellany on Sunday events, Phena and Tom raised funds for many local causes while promoting local artists and musicians.
