Kildare Animal Foundation (KAF) has released a heartfelt appeal to the public, urging them to adopt more animals from its shelter.

Taking to social media to explain the plight, KAF released a post which opened with the question: 'What more can we do?'

KAF then proceeded to outline a number of benefits it offers to people looking to adopt animals from its shelter.

According to KAF, the benefits are as follows:

  • "We have the lowest adoption fees. This money goes to help the other dogs straight away."
  • "All our animals are neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption."
  • "Unconditional advice guidance, and support throughout the adoption process."
  • "Our staff and volunteers are open honest and friendly."
  • "Frequent visits are welcomed to ensure your choice of pet is suited to your lifestyle."
  • "Our animals are not kept in cages."
  • "Home visits are done to prevent people making a "rod for their own back". They are carried out by appointment only and are non invasive. When you have seen the disappointment in a dog when they think they have found a home only to find themselves back at a shelter it motivates us to get it right first time."
  • "We tell you honestly everything we know about the animals to help you make an informed decision."
  • "When you adopt one of our dogs, it is not giving us an easy life. It just means we can take another in its place."
  • "No complicated forms with a million questions."
  • "Visiting 2pm to 4pm every single day or by appointment."

"There are so many animals out there that we want to help, but our hands are tied, because not enough people adopt from us," KAF added. "Please hear our plea."
