Steam locomotive No.85 "Merlin" will be visiting Kilkenny next month as part of the 'Marble City' tour being operated by the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland.

Coming down from Dublin on August 13 (Sunday), Merlin will be hauling vintage craven carriages from the early 1960s.

The train will arrive in MacDonagh Station at 12.50pm and depart back to Dublin at 4.20pm.

The tour is already sold out but it offers an opportunity for local trainspotters to see a wonderfully preserved locomotive right in the heart of Kilkenny City.
