Five people a month refuse social houses in Kilkenny

There were a total of 15 social house refusals in Kilkenny in a three month period.

From May 1 to August 31, a total of 15 social housing applicants refused offers made by Kilkenny County Council, and a further three people refused offers of approved housing body tenancies.

Reasons for refusals varied, with some being: “no longer interested in area”, “not interested in property offered”, “wanted bigger house”, “wanted ground floor property” and “prefer to stay at current location at present”.

Kilkenny County Council stated the following in their admission of records: “All the offers made that were subsequently refused were offers of properties in the applicant's chosen areas of preference”.

“The house types offered to all of the applicants were suitable for their household needs as per the information provided by the applicants and assessed by Kilkenny County Council.”

This information was granted via a Freedom of Information request and no personal or identifiable details of applicants in question were disclosed.
