Clinics (by appointment) for free, HPV vaccine catch-up being held in Kilkenny

The HSE/South East Community Healthcare are continuing to hold clinics (by appointment) for some people who did not yet get the papillomaviruses (HPV) vaccine.

Eligible people can register on www.hpv.ie for an appointment for a free vaccine (offered as part of the “Laura Brennan Catch Up Programme” – an initiative supported by Bernie and Larry Brennan, parents of the late Laura Brennan who campaigned for higher uptake of the HPV vaccine before her death from cervical cancer in 2019, aged 26).

Clinics (by appointment) will be taking place at the HSE’s Vaccination Hub, Kilcreene Hospital, Kilkenny R95 DK07

·         Sunday 12th of November 2-4pm:

·         Wed. 22nd of November 11.30am-12.30pm.

·         Sunday 3rd of December 9.30 -11.30am.

·         Wed. 20th of December 9.30-11.30am.

Who can get a vaccine

 

You can get a HPV vaccine if you’re:

·         in second to sixth year of secondary school, homeschool or special school

·         female age 24 or younger

·         male age 21 or younger

·         If you’re an international student living in Ireland, you can get a vaccine if you’re:

·         female age 24 or younger

·         male age 21 or younger

·         If you’re a refugee or seeking protection in Ireland, you can get a vaccine if you’re:

·         female age 14 to 24

·         male age 14 to 21

If you need help booking an appointment, contact: 

·         HSE Live on freephone 1800 700 700

·         your local vaccination team

What to bring to your appointment

If you're 16 or older

·         Bring photo ID with your date of birth to your appointment, for example your:

·         passport

·         driving licence

·         Garda age card

If you're under 16

·         A parent or legal guardian must be with you at the appointment.

·         Bring your PPS number and ID with your date of birth on it. This can be your passport or birth certificate. If you do not have these, any ID like a Public Services Card or school ID would be helpful.

·         If you do not have any ID, your parent or legal guardian can confirm your identity and age at the appointment.

Important things to remember

·         Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. Wear something that will make it easy to get the vaccine in your upper arm.

·         You do not need to fast (not eat) before getting a HPV vaccine.
