Kilkenny Portrait Show is currently exhibiting at An Chead Tine Gallery at Dunnes Stores on Kieran’s Street.
The show was selected and curated by Blaise Smith of the RHA and is one of Ireland’s most esteemed portrait painters. With over 80 artists selected, the exhibition showcases some of Ireland’s leading contemporary potrait artists. The exhibition runs from Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 5pm until April 13.
Established in July 2022, An Chead Tine Art Organisation is a not for profit organisation whose objective is to offer a city centre studio for visual artists from Kilkenny to help them develop and progress their practice.
The organisation aims to provide a supportive working environment that addresses key points in the creative cycle by which art is made focuses on emerging artists but are also dedicated to supporting artists at all stages of career.
The exhibition is curated by Blaise Smith, one of Ireland’s leading figurative painters who is adept at realist landscapes, portraits and still-lives.
In 2017 his portrait “My Parents” was runner up in the National Gallery’s Zurich Portrait Prize.
