Danny Byrne from Paulstown
A car, tractor run, vintage, bike motorbike and truck run in aid of Danny's MS treatment Fund will be held on Sunday, April 14 from 10.30am to 12.30pm, with registration in the Barrow Rangers GAA club grounds.
Danny Byrne (32) from Paulstown has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and is hoping he can raise the necessary funds to take part in stem cell treatment in Moscow.
The Kilkenny man lost his brother Stephen to a brain tumour in 2003 and his father Danny Snr to lung cancer in 2018.
"As you can imagine for my own health to deteriorate in two years is a devastating blow," Danny posted to his idonate page.
"For a man that was so active before whether it be working or just kicking around a ball I'm just not capable anymore and the longer time goes by the more worried I am of being further restricted to little or nothing. As a father to my son I need to be able to support him through his life by continuing to be able to work. To be even able to play and teach him football or hurling would mean the absolute world to me," he added.
"At the moment everything is a struggle to do but I'll never give up trying. That's why I applied for the stem cell treatment in Moscow as this could and will give me my life back to some decent level. Thanks everyone for reading my story and I will be forever grateful for any help I receive," the local man concluded.
