New CBS Kilkenny site
Forty-seven Kilkenny organisations and sporting clubs have received funding under the Community Sports Facilities Fund worth €5.5 million to local bodies.
Formerly known as the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme, the funding is broken into three strands; Regional, Local and Equipment with the equipment allocations fund announced back in May.
Among the big winners were CBS Kilkenny who received €500,000 for a new full-size all weather pitch, Emeralds GAA were given € 198,338 for the upgrade of their facilities and Freebooters with € 194, 687 for the installation of female dressing rooms, toilets and wheelchair access.

CBS Kilkenny greatly welcomed the announcement as they prepare to move to a new school complex on the Dunningstown Road.
"The Board of Management of CBS Secondary School Kilkenny is delighted to be included in the allocation of Sports Capital Funding from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media," a school statement read.
"The Board would like to sincerely thank the people and the organisations who have been party to, and supportive of, this application."
"This funding is critical to the delivery of a full-size astroturf pitch adjacent to the new CBS Secondary School campus on Dunningstown Road. We are particularly appreciative of the wholehearted support received from Mr John McGuinness TD over a prolonged period," the statement concluded. - FULL FUNDING LIST
