The future of Kilkenny Gaelic football teams in intercounty competitions is to be reviewed.
At a meeting to be held in Nowlan Park the Football Board will decide what action to take as regards outside competitions.
The move was prompted by the recent disastrous showing of the under-21 county side in the Leinster championship.
Several players ignored a call to play for the county side and, as a result, the team was left understrength.

HOSPITAL INVESTIGATION
A special subcommittee has been set up by the South-Eastern Health Board to carry out an initial investigation into the working of the orthopaedic hospital, Kilkenny.
The move follows a motion by four members of the Board calling for an enquiry into ‘all aspects’ of the working of the hospital.
The initial investigation was described by the signatories of the motion as a ’responsible approach’.
It was agreed before the subcommittee began their enquiry they have a meeting with the four proposers of the motion to hear the complaints they had received.
Ald McGuinness said that at a previous meeting there had been a reference to the staff working under a cloud because of the delay in moving the motion.
But, perhaps, some of the patients also regarded themselves as being under a cloud for a long time. What the proposers wanted now was for that cloud to have a silver lining.
GROCERS UNITE!
The grocers of Kilkenny are organising to fight local and national issues in their trade - particularly rising costs and falling profit margins.
At a meeting in Springhill last week, attended by grocers from Kilkenny, Freshford, Castlecomer, Ballyhale and Bennettsbridge, the Kilkenny Grocers’ Forum was formed.
“Our first job will be to attract as many grocers from Kilkenny City and county into the Association as possible, so that we can be strong and effective,” said chairman Sean Leahy. “Our Association can only be a strong as its membership.”
