The Laois Intermediate Camogie team were knocked out of the Leinster Championship on Wednesday evening as Noel Brennan's side travelled to Fenagh to take on Carlow in the quarter-finals of the competition.

The game was evenly contested with 80 minutes needed to separate the two local rivals as Carlow won by the narrowest of margins.

Carlow 3-17

Laois 3-16

Leinster Intermediate Camogie Championship quarter-final

The first 15 minutes was a superb battle as the sides were locked level with three points apiece. Eimear Hassett getting in for goal while Carlow responded in the best possible manner with a goal of their own. The last ten minutes of the half saw two more points for either side as they went half-time level at 1-5 apiece.

The sides were giving their all as the game kicked into the gear in the second period. Laois' second goal in the 48th minute scored by Amy Flanagan had pushed them three points ahead with Brennan's side tagging on two more points as it looked like they would pick up their first win of the season.

Carlow to their credit produced a stunning fightback to level the game with the last puck of the game, both sides having scored 2-12. Once again, it was Laois who cantered ahead as they Hassett scored her second goal of the contest in extra-time as Laois went four-points ahead yet again.

Laois were dealt a major blow as they were reduced to 14 players due to a red card and Carlow took full advantage of the extra body on the pitch with them outscoring Laois by a single point in extra-time and taking a slender victory to secure their semi-final place.
