Phil Ryan - Mountrath

The death has occurred of Phil Ryan (née Connolly) Patrick Street, Mountrath, Co Laois died on February 28, peacefully at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her loving family, and in her 98th year.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Seamie, baby son Martin, and daughter-in-law Helen. Deeply regretted by her loving family Patricia, Adrian, Mary, Monica, Kieran and Seamus, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters Mary, Kathleen and Joan, brother Christy, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Burke’s Funeral Home, Mountrath on Thursday evening, February 29 from 7pm with Rosary at 8pm. Reposing on Friday, March 1 from 5pm with removal at 6.30pm to St Fintan’s Church, Mountrath (eircode R32X338) arriving at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday morning March 2 at 10am followed by Burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath.

Phil’s Requiem Mass will be live streamed on www.mountrathparish.ie

Ben Thornton - Portlaoise 

The death has occurred of Ben Thornton Rathleague, Portlaoise late of Swinford, Co. Mayo on February 29. Died peacefully at the Portlaoise hospital. Beloved husband of Norrie and dearly loved father to Alan and Lorena. Predeceased by his sisters Mary and Patsy and brother Eddie.

Deeply regretted by his sisters Sr Augusta and Theresa, son in law Rory, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and good friend Joe and former colleagues in An Garda Siochána.

Reposing on February 29th at Keegan's Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6.30 pm until 8 pm. Rosary recital at 7.30 pm. Removal on Friday to arrive at SS Peter and Paul's Church for 12 noon requiem mass. Cremation will follow on Saturday. House private please.

Joseph Michael Keyes-  Timahoe

The death has occurred of Joseph Michael Keyes, Isleworth, Middlesex, England and formerly of Timahoe. Joe passed away peacefully in his 89th year at West Middlesex University Hospital on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Predeceased by his brother Fin. Sadly missed by his heart broken wife Elizabeth (Betty) and sister Nora, nephews, nieces and friends.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 5, at St. Edmund's RC Church, Nelson Road, Whitton, TW2 7BB at 4pm followed by a private cremation. A memorial mass will take place at 10.30am on Sunday, 21st April, at St Michael's RC Church, Timahoe, Co. Laois followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Philip Gray - Abbeyleix

The death occurred of Philip Gray of Abbeyleix on February 26.  Suddenly at home. Dearly loved and loving husband of Sandra, lovingly remembered by Glen, Stephen and Laura, son-in-law Duncan, daughters-in-law, Aoife and Emma, and grandchildren . Sadly missed by his siblings, Ian, Linda, Nigel, Raymond and their families, as well as a large circle of friends and former colleagues.

Funeral service, Friday, 1st March, at 12 noon in St Michael and all Angles Church, Abbeyleix R32AW62. Interment immediately following in the adjoining Graveyard.

Eileen Forristal (née Roche) - Stradbally

The death occurred of Eileen Forristal (née Roche) Rathmore, Stradbally on February 27.  Passed away peacefully, in the loving care of Droimnín Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving husband John and her sister-in-law Breda. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, her sister Maura, sister-in-law, her extended family, friends and neighbours. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, March 1st, in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Stradbally, at 12 noon, followed by private cremation. ‘’House strictly private at all times’’

Elizabeth (Betty) Coffey - Rosenallis

The death has occurred of Elizabeth (Betty) Coffey (nee Corcoran) of Tineel, Rosenallis,  peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Jack, sister, Sarah, brothers Michael, John and Jamesie. Deeply regretted by Michael, his wife Lisa and adored grandson, Jack, sister Anne (Ussher) and brothers Pat and Alo, by her sisters in law Ann, Peg, Anne and Marie, her nephews, nieces, cousins, neighbours, relatives and many friends.

Reposing in her home (R32RR52) this Wednesday from 7pm. Recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Reposing on Thursday from 5pm. Recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Removal from her home on Friday morning at 11.30am to St. Brigid's Church, Rosenallis for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in St. Brigids Cemetery, Rosenallis. House Private on Friday morning.

Ellen (Chrissie) Delaney- Rathdowney

The death has occurred of  Ellen (Chrissie) Delaney (née Gilmartin) of  Manchester, U.K. and formerly Mooreville, Rathdowney on February 6, 2024, peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband John Delaney (formerly Skirk, Borris-in-Ossory), her parents James and Margaret Gilmartin, sisters Mary Gilmartin, Sadie Doheny and brother Jimmy Gilmartin. Sadly missed by her loving family, daughters Margaret and Ellen, son Patrick, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, son-in-law Colin, Patrick's partner Katie, sisters Tessie Bell (Dublin), Peggy Breen (Rathdowney), brother Tommy Gilmartin (Rathdowney), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and a wide circle of friends. Rest in Peace.

Funeral Mass for Chrissie will take place on Thursday, February 29, 2024, in St. Mary's Church, Manchester, at 10am followed by cremation at Manchester Crematorium. Mass can be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/loftusfunerals

Chrissie's ashes will be interred in the local cemetery, Rathdowney following 10am Mass in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Rathdowney, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 (parish website/Rathdowney).

Brigid Connell (née Quigley)- Abbeyleix

The death has occurred of Brigid Connell (née Quigley) of Tunduff, Abbeyleix, Laois / Murroe, Limerick / Rathangan, Kildare on February 24, 2024. Brigid passed surrounded by her family in the excellent care of St. James's Hospital ICU staff. Predeceased by her beloved son John, brother Willy, her parents John and Mary Quigley.

She is survived and deeply missed by her loving husband Billy, daughters Mary and Mairéad, their spouses David and Robbie, and her beloved grandchildren Jessie, Emma and Cillian. Also missed by her loving sister Peggy, brothers Martin, John, Larry and James, her nieces, nephews extended family and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at her residence on Thursday from 4pm. with recital of the rosary at 7.30pm. Funeral arriving for Requiem Mass on Friday at 2pm. in the Church Of The Most Holy Rosary Abbeyleix. Burial afterwards in St. Patrick's Cemetery. House private on Friday morning by request. Family flowers only Donations if desired to the Irish Hearth Foundation.

Patrick Joseph (Joe) Conroy- Ballyfin

The death has occurred of Patrick Joseph (Joe) Conroy of Wicklow Town, Co. Wicklow and formerly of Ballylusk, Ballyfin, Co Laois. Retired member of An Garda Síochána. Passed away peacefully on February 27, 2024. Predeceased by his wife Tina and daughter Karen. Sadly missed by his daughters Gillian and Christina, granddaughters Emily, Ailbhe and Ellen, sons-in-law Tommy and Ray, sister Maura, brothers Tommy and Michael, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours, friends and former colleagues from An Garda Síochána and Tesco. Rest in peace. 

Joe will be reposing at his home on Thursday 29th February from 4pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass will take place in St. Patrick’s Church, Wicklow Town on Friday at 10am followed by burial in Ballyfin Cemetery, Co. Laois (arriving at 2pm approx). The Mass will be streamed live via : stmantan.ie/general/live-mass-services/

Joe’s family would like to thank all who cared for him at West Mount Clinic, The Dialysis Unit at St Vincent’s University Hospital and The Beacon, the dialysis taxi drivers, Bluebird Care and Blainroe Lodge.
